General
The Explorer I Router comes with your choice of either a Cellular Cat 4, 6 or 12 LTE modem. All routers provide 2.4/5 GHz a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi and 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet.
Our routers allow connectivity for up to sixty-four devices at a time. This includes any combination of 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, 5 GHz Wi-Fi, and Ethernet devices. Your entire family may be connected without worries.
The WAN setup may be either 4G Cellular, Wi-Fi as WAN or Ethernet WAN. The setup for most 4G Cellular carriers is to merely insert the SIM Card into the router. With Ethernet WAN, you need to connect an Ethernet backhaul to the Router’s WAN port. Wi-Fi as WAN connections require you to create a connection using the Routica Mobile App, since you have to choose which SSID network to join and provide its password.
Our routers offer superior connectivity, throughput and range compared to a mobile hotspot. We also offer a host of other premium features to enhance your connectivity on the road.
At the present time, the Explorer I Router cannot aggregate data between Wi-Fi as WAN and Cellular. However, the Explorer I Router has a feature that in this type of case, Wi-Fi as WAN will be used first with Cellular being ready in standby. This ensures consistent reliable access to the Internet.
The Explorer I Router may be powered by either the included AC/DC adapter or via the vehicle’s 12 VDC mains power system. If equipped, it is suggested to use the vehicle’s secondary battery.
Leaving router powered on for extended unattended operations may prematurely discharge the vehicle’s battery. If your vehicle is equipped with both a primary and secondary battery, it is suggested to use the vehicle’s secondary battery, as this will not affect the starting ability of the vehicle.
